description: The construction of the Karian Reservoir in Sajira District, Lebak Regency, is  part of the National Strategic Project under Presidential Regulation Number 3 of  2016. This project aims to support water security, flood control, and agricultural  irrigation. However, behind these national benefits, the project has caused  significant social and economic impacts on the local community, particularly in  affected villages such as Bungur Mekar, Calungbungur, Mekarsari, and Pajagan.  The emerging issues include large-scale population displacement, loss of  livelihoods due to the conversion of agricultural land, and low employment  absorption following the reservoir construction. This study aims to analyze the  socio-economic impact of the Karian Reservoir development policy on the local  community. The research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method.  Data collection techniques include in-depth interviews, field observations, and  documentation. The theoretical framework used is the socio-economic component  theory by Suratmo (2004). The results show that the construction of the Karian  Reservoir has led to population relocation, decreased agricultural production,  and increased unemployment due to limited skills and low educational levels  among affected residents. Although the project has created new business  opportunities in the service and tourism sectors, most are temporary and have not  been able to replace the community’s economic dependence on agriculture.  Therefore, government intervention is needed in the form of skills training  programs, access to business capital, and inclusive and sustainable relocation  policies.
