Sultan Ageng \r\nTirtayasa University. 2025.\r\nThe purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the application of \r\nthe Problem Based Learning (PBL) model with cooperative learning type Think \r\nPair Share (TPS) in improving the communication skills of junior high school \r\nstudents conducted in class IX of SMP Negeri 13 Kota Serang. This type of research \r\nis an experimental study with a non-equivalent pretest posttest control group \r\ndesign. The sample in this study was taken using the cluster random sampling \r\ntechnique in a population with 30 students in the experimental class and 30 students \r\nin the control class.\r\nThe results of this study are evidenced by the results mean of \r\nthe n-gain score of 0.8068 with a high category.\r\nThen the normality test with the \r\nKolmogorov-Smirnov test on the pretest and posttest data is seen from the normality \r\ntest obtained, namely if the significance value is 0.086 > 0.05 then the data in the \r\npretest is normal. \r\nWhile the posttest results are significance 0.127 > 0.05 including \r\nnormal. Then an independent sample t-test was conducted with a significance value \r\nof 0.418 (H0 is accepted) which means there is a significant difference between the \r\npretest scores of the experimental class and the control class. Furthermore, to \r\nanswer the formulated hypothesis, a hypothesis test was conducted. The hypothesis \r\ntest used in this study was the independent sample t-test with a significance value \r\nof 0.001 < 0.05, which means H0 was rejected. The results of the effect size test \r\nobtained a result of 1.108 which is categorized as high.
