Information on soil insect diversity in Talaga Warna Village, particularly in beneng taro (Xanthosoma undipes K.Koch) cultivation remain limited. This study aims to assess the diversity and ecological roles of soil insects associated with beneng taro plants in Talaga Warna Village, Pabuaran district, Serang Regency. The research, conducted from November 2024 to January 2025, employed a descriptive quantitative design using exploratory methods. Sampling was carried out via purposive sampling with pitfall traps. The identified soil insects were then analyzed using the Shannon-Wiener diversity index and dominance index. A total of 605 individual soil insects were found in both cultivated and natural habitat of beneng taro plants, consisting of 7 orders, 8 families. The soil insect diversity index has a value of 1.332 in the cultivated habitat and 1.247 in the natural habitat, both categorized as medium diversity. The dominance index values in the cultivated and natural habitats were 0.368 and 0.420, respectively, indicating low dominance levels in both.. Identified functional roles of soil insects included predators, herbivores, pollinators, and detritivores.
