One of the factors that influence this is the use of learning methods that are less interesting and less appropriate. Therefore, there is a need for an innovative learning model that can improve these abilities. In this study, as an alternative path, using gamification-based learning media, namely Gimkit, using Gimkit is believed to be able to increase student retention and learning independence. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of mathematics learning using Gimkit in improving student retention and learning independence compared to students who received conventional learning models. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 9 Pandeglang in the academic year 2024/2025. The research method used was quasi-experiment with a research design of Nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design and involved 2 groups. Sampling was done by purposive sampling, while the sample in this study amounted to 60 class X students. The instruments used in this study consisted of student learning retention tests, independence scales, and open-ended questionnaires.
