description: The abuse of narcotics among police officers has become a serious issue that  threatens the integrity and reputation of the police institution in Indonesia,  particularly in Polda Banten. Such misconduct diminishes the professionalism  and performance of police personnel. In Polda Banten, cases of drug abuse occur  almost annually, and the sanctions imposed have not been sufficiently deterrent to  prevent officers from engaging in similar offenses. This study aims to analyze the  criminal liability of police officers involved in narcotics abuse and assess whether  law enforcement authorities, particularly Propam, have effectively fulfilled their  role in maintaining discipline and ensuring the integrity of the police force. The  objective of this study is to provide a comprehensive examination of the criminal  liability of police officers in drug-related offenses and to evaluate the internal  measures taken by the Bidpropam division to address and optimize law  enforcement responses to the consequences of drug abuse within the police force.  The research employs a normative juridical method with a qualitative descriptive  approach, involving data collection from legal regulations, interviews, and  literature studies. The theories used in this study include criminal liability and  law enforcement theories, which provide a framework for understanding the legal  consequences of police misconduct. The findings reveal that, despite police  officers being expected to adhere to the same legal standards as civilian society,  internal protections often hinder the fair judicial process. The sanctions imposed  on officers involved in narcotics abuse are frequently disproportionate to the  severity of their violations, creating injustice and damaging the reputation of the  police institution. Therefore, it is essential to enhance transparency and  accountability in law enforcement and implement rehabilitation programs for  officers implicated in drug abuse. These measures are expected to restore police  integrity and maintain public trust in the institution, thereby ensuring more  effective and equitable law enforcement in Indonesia.
