description: This study discusses the legal strength of the Civil Servant Appointment  Decree (Surat Keputusan or SK PNS) from the perspective of credit collateral,  viewed from the standpoint of Indonesian statutory regulations. The main issue  raised is the legal power of the SK itself and its implementation in the banking  world in Indonesia, specifically in the context of using it as collateral for bank  credit. The aim of this research is to understand and analyze the extent of the  legal strength attached to the SK PNS and how it is realized in practice. This  study uses a normative juridical and empirical juridical approach. Primary data  were obtained through interviews with the Credit Operations Officer at BJB Bank,  while secondary data were sourced from laws and regulations, literature, and  related documents The research findings indicate that the SK PNS has a  constitutive and final legal strength, meaning it is an official endorsement by the  state of a person's civil servant status. However, there are still some challenges in  its implementation, including ensuring payment certainty in cases where the  debtor (civil servant) defaults. These risks can at least be mitigated by applying  the principle of prudence in granting credit to civil servants.  The conclusion of this study is that the SK PNS has strong and legitimate  legal power, but there needs to be improved coordination and understanding  among implementing officers to ensure effective and efficient implementation.  This research contributes to strengthening prudent credit guarantee practices.
