description: The objective of this study is to examine the level of self-efficacy among ninth-grade students at Insan Pratama Junior High School, as well as to identify the most dominant source influencing their self-efficacy in speaking English. This research employed a mixed-method design, combining both quantitative and qualitative approaches, and involved 24 students from the ninth grade. Two instruments were utilized: a questionnaire and an interview. The students were asked to assess their self-efficacy beliefs by completing a questionnaire adapted from Zhang & Ardasheva (2019), with slight modifications to suit the context of this study. The collected data were analyzed by categorizing the levels of students’ self-efficacy and determining the most influential source of that self-efficacy. The findings revealed that approximately 54% of the students (13 individuals) exhibited low levels of self-efficacy, while 29% (7 students) were at a moderate level, and only 16% (4 students) demonstrated a high level of self-efficacy. Regarding the sources, psychological and emotional states emerged as the most dominant factor influencing the students’ self-efficacy in speaking English.
