description: Plastic is a synthetic material widely used in daily life. The high rate of plastic usage, combined with its low degradability, leads to the accumulation of plastic waste in the environment, including aquatic ecosystems. During the degradation process, plastic breaks down into smaller particles known as microplastics. This study aims to identify the characteristics and abundance of microplastics found in milkfish (Chanos chanos) and tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) sold at Ciruas Market. Fish samples were collected using purposive sampling techniques during the period from November to December 2024, with a total of 18 fish. The results showed that all fish samples were contaminated with microplastics, predominantly in the form of fibers, with colors including black, white, red, brown, and transparent, and particle sizes ranging from 1–2 mm. The identified plastic polymers included Polypropylene (PP), Nylon, Polystyrene (PS), Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE), and Polycarbonate (PC).
