description: Background: Dependence is the use of harmful substances such as nicotine that  can change the way the brain works leading to addiction. The habit of smoking  tobacco for years has an impact on brain and mental health. The nicotine content  in cigarettes has effects on the brain, including causing dependence and toxicity on  cognitive function and symptoms of concentration difficulties. As a result, if  smokers continue to smoke, they will experience a decline in cognitive function at  student age. Learning and the acquisition of final grades will be affected by the  decline in cognitive function. Objective: To determine the relationship of nicotine  dependence on student learning achievement at SMK Pasundan 2 Serang City.  Methods: This research uses quantitative method with analytic design using cross  sectional study method. The sampling technique in this study used nonprobability  sampling with purposive sampling technique with a sample of 117 respondents. The  instruments used in collecting data for this study were Fagerstrom questionnaire  sheets and average student achievement results for 1 semester. Results: Most  students are in the category of mild nicotine dependence level as much as 45.16%  74.19%. Likewise with student achievement Most students are in the good category  as much as 45.16%. It can be concluded that there is a relationship between the  level of nicotine dependence and learning achievement of students of SMK  Pasundan 2 Serang City with a p-value of 0.000. Conclusion: There is a significant  relationship between the level of nicotine dependence and student achievement with  a p-value of 0.000.
