description: This study aims to describe the implementation of religious tolerance between the Buddhist community of Avalokitesvara Temple and the surrounding Muslim community during the Banten Sultanate, as well as towards the Pamarican Village community today, and how the Pamarican Village community responded to the existence of the Avalokitesvara Temple. The type of research used is qualitative phenomenological research with data collection techniques through interviews, observations, and documentation. Through the results of the research that has been conducted, information was obtained that the Buddhist community of Avalokitesvara Temple and the surrounding Muslim community have succeeded in implementing religious tolerance since the sultanate era towards the surrounding community and this has survived until now through religious tolerance carried out between the Buddhist community of the temple and the Pamarican Village community. So that religious harmony is realized between the temple and the surrounding community. The phenomenon of religious tolerance between the Buddhist community of the temple and the Muslim community of Pamarican Village is shown through several forms such as the temple employing Muslim residents of Pamarican Village as monastery administrators, participating in their respective religious celebrations, and the Buddhist community of the temple providing regular donations and providing health clinic facilities for the Muslim community of Pamarican Village. These things show that the attitude and interaction between the Avalokitesvara Temple and the Pamarican Village community have been well established, such as always appreciating and respecting and even providing support for religious celebrations/activities carried out by each party, always prioritizing communication and dialogue between the two parties who have different religions so that there are no misunderstandings and discomfort, providing assistance if there are people around or the temple who are in trouble regardless of their religion, the temple also always considers every individual including the people in Pamarican Village to be the same and must be treated equally without distinguishing what religion is adhered to by the community. So that the response of the Pamarican Village community to the existence of the Avalokitesvara Temple is to accept the existence of the temple in their midst and openly accept and are willing to live side by side with them in harmony and peace.
