High schools description: This study aimed to determine the effect of the Herringbone technique on the reading comprehension skills of eighth-grade students at SMPN 10 Kota Serang. A quantitative method using a quasi-experimental design was employed for this research. The researcher selected class VIII-A as the control class and class VIII-F as the experimental class, with each class comprising 30 students. The data were collected through multiple-choice reading tests, which included a pre-test and a post-test. The result showed that the experimental class had an average post-test score of 71.50, while the control class scored an average of 65.33. The Independent T-test indicated a two-sided significance value (p) of 0.029, which was lower than 0.05. The null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Herringbone technique had a significant effect on students’ reading comprehension skills in the eighth grade of SMPN 10 Kota Serang.
