Using a qualitative ethnomethodological approach, it explores how these students navigate cultural differences, communication challenges, and adaptation processes in a new academic environment. The research employs Young Yun Kim's cross-cultural adaptation theory as its framework and collects data through non-participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation from four Pattani Thai students. The findings reveal that successful adaptation is shaped by previous cross-cultural exposure, language proficiency, and institutional support. Students employ various adaptation strategies, including selective integration and cultural engagement, while preserving their Islamic identity. Effective adaptation involves balancing cultural preservation with new cultural learning, requiring individual effort and institutional support.Communication competence is pivotal, as students develop verbal and non-verbal strategies to overcome language barriers. These strategies enable them to navigate intercultural interactions effectively and maintain academic and social integration. This study highlights the unique challenges faced by students from conservative backgrounds adjusting to diverse environments in Islamic higher education. The research contributes to understanding international student adaptation by emphasizing the interplay between individual and institutional factors in fostering successful integration and cultural negotiation.By examining these dynamics, the study provides insights into creating supportive environments for international students in similar contexts, particularly for those with shared religious but diverse cultural frameworks. date: 2025 type: Thesis type: NonPeerReviewed format: text language: en identifier: https://eprints.untirta.ac.id/49057/1/FeldiHekmatyar_7781230003_Fulltext.pdf format: text language: en identifier: https://eprints.untirta.ac.id/49057/2/FeldiHekmatyar_7781230003_CP.pdf format: text language: en identifier: https://eprints.untirta.ac.id/49057/4/FeldiHekmatyar_7781230003_02.pdf format: text language: en identifier: https://eprints.untirta.ac.id/49057/5/FeldiHekmatyar_7781230003_03.pdf format: text language: en identifier: https://eprints.untirta.ac.id/49057/6/FeldiHekmatyar_7781230003_04.pdf format: text language: en identifier: https://eprints.untirta.ac.id/49057/7/FeldiHekmatyar_7781230003_05.pdf format: text language: en identifier: https://eprints.untirta.ac.id/49057/9/FeldiHekmatyar_7781230003_Lamp.pdf format: text language: en identifier: https://eprints.untirta.ac.id/49057/18/FeldiHekmatyar_7781230003_Reff.pdf format: text language: en identifier: https://eprints.untirta.ac.id/49057/19/FeldiHekmatyar_7781230003_01.pdf identifier: Hekmatyar, Feldi (2025) FENOMENA ADAPTASI LINTAS BUDAYA DAN KOMUNIKASI ANTARBUDAYA ( STUDI PENGALAMAN MAHASISWA PATTANI THAILAND DI UIN BANTEN).
