The method in this research uses quantitative methods and the research design is carried out using a nonequivalent control group design. The sample taken in the research was 48 class V students. The data collection technique used is a test consisting of a pre-test and post test. The data analysis technique uses data obtained in the form of N-Gain values. The results of the research show that the increase in students' conceptual understanding after applying the problem based learning model can be seen from the results of data processing.
