description: Natural resources in the form of seaweed on Tanjung Lesung Beach have the potential with abundant brown seaweed, but the utilization of brown seaweed has not been done optimally until now. The use of natural dyes can provide positive impacts, such as increasing the selling value because the manufacturing process is complicated so that goods become more exclusive and with the use of natural dyes, the environment will be better because the waste produced is less and does not contain heavy metals such as zinc (Zn), copper (Cu), lead (Pb), chromium (Cr).The aim of this study was to determine the results of coloring using natural dyes from three species of brown seaweed and to determine the color quality (color depth and fastness) produced from the natural coloring of the three species of brown seaweed. The results showed that extracts from the three species of brown seaweed can be used as natural dyes for fabrics. Dry and wet rubbing fastness tests on all treatments met the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 0288.2008. The best results were obtained in the treatment with Sargassum sp. (SN3).
