It serves as a key component in synthesizing mordenite-type zeolite, which functions effectively as a catalyst and adsorbent, particularly for ammonium ion removal. This study aims to synthesize mordenite from rice husk ash (RHA) via the hydrothermal method using a molar ratio of 1 Al₂O₃ : 30 SiO₂ : 14 NaOH : 720 H₂O. RHA from Pandeglang contained 83.9% SiO₂. X-ray diffraction (XRD) confirmed mordenite formation with characteristic peaks at 2θ = 6.55°, 9.78°, 13.40°, 25.64°, and 45.31°, while SEM and XRF analyses at 700°C indicated high-purity mordenite. Ammonium adsorption followed pseudo-second-order kinetics, with Freundlich and Temkin isotherms fitting best at 700°C and 800°C.
