description: Soil insects are a type of insect that spends part or all of its life in the soil, either on the surface of the soil or living in the soil. The diversity of soil insects in Ciherang Village has not been widely known and studied, so research needs to be done as preliminary data in ecosystem management efforts. This research was aimed to determine the diversity of soil insects found in rubber plantations in Ciherang Village Gunungsari District Serang Regency. This research is a quantitative descriptive research carried out with the exploration method, which was carried out in Ciherang Village from September until November 2024. The point of determination of the sampling location in this research using purposive sampling method, with sampling techniques using pitfall traps. Soil insects obtained were then identified and analyzed using the Shannon-Wiener species diversity index and Simpson's dominance index. The results showed that the number of soil insects in rubber plantations as many as 933 individuals consisting of 17 families. The diversity of soil insects in rubber plant habitats that are still actively tapped has an index value of 1.047 (medium category) while in rubber plant habitats that are not actively tapped has an index value of 0.990 (low category). The dominance index in rubber plant habitats that are still actively tapped and are not actively tapped respectively obtain a value of 0.530 and 0.598 with a medium category. There are five roles of insects found, namely predators, detritivors, herbivores, pests and pollinator.
