This research adopts a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews involving orphaned children, their families, and members of the surrounding community. These techniques were employed to obtain comprehensive and detailed research data. The results of this study indicate that the dynamics within orphans families depend on the forms of capital they possess, their habitus, and how both are employed in the struggle within a specific field to either continue formal education or not. This is based on the analysis using Bourdieu’s theory of practice: habitus × capital + field = practice. Orphans children with limited capital and lacking a habitus of perseverance tend to have fewer opportunities to pursue their intended formal education, often resulting in the practice of discontinuing their education.
