Melon plants have high economic value, therefore melons undergo various development starting from plant breeding, technology in its cultivation and the creation of melon varieties that have superior properties. The novelty test is an evaluation or research to determine how new or innovative a concept, technology, or method is in agriculture. Success in the development of new melon varieties depends not only on the final yield that can be harvested, but also on morphological traits that affect the growth, production, and adaptability of these varieties. Morphological characteristics include various aspects, such as fruit shape, skin color, flesh texture, and plant shape. The morphological characteristics of the new melon candidate varieties tested showed differences with the comparison varieties. Based on the results of the analysis of variance and further tests on the results of quantitative analysis, there are differences between candidate varieties and comparator characters where almost all parameters show significantly different results and are significantly different, except for the parameters of leaf width and the length of the female flower penducle which show no significant difference. This is indicated by the results of PCA analysis which shows that UT-5 and UT-6 have special characteristics, namely in the color of fruit flesh, leaf shape, leaf lobes, leaf color, female flower penducle and male flower penducle that distinguish them from the comparison varieties.
