description: This study explores the identity construction of the Punk Soeara Rakjat (SORAK)  Community in its efforts to gain societal recognition for environmental  sustainability agendas in Pekanbaru. Using Axel Honneth’s recognition theory,  which encompasses love, legal rights, and solidarity, as its analytical framework,  the study adopts a qualitative approach with Edmund Husserl’s phenomenological  method. The research highlights field findings derived from interviews and  observations. The results show that the community has successfully changed  societal perceptions through active involvement in environmental and social issues,  demonstrating that punk subculture can transform positively. Field evidence  indicates that social recognition for this community comes not only from within  their internal circles but also from environmental organizations such as WALHI  Riau and local communities actively participating in joint activities. Through  collective efforts, SORAK not only advocates for environmental sustainability but  also fights for social justice. This study reinforces previous research findings on the  transformation of punk subculture communities as agents of social and  environmental change within society.
