description: The rhizosphere is a narrow zone of soil that surrounds plant roots.  Microorganisms in the rhizosphere, including fungi, affect soil fertility, plant  growth, and pathogen control. Healthy plants are generally rich in the fungal  rhizosphere community. Several studies on the rhizosphere fungal community in  horticultural crops have been reported, but the diversity of fungal rhizosphere from  local bananas is still limited. This study aimed to determine the fungal rhizosphere  community of local bananas from Kabupaten Pandeglang. Samples were collected  in Kecamatan Cadasari, Banjar, Menes, Pandeglang, Saketi, and Cisata.  Rhizosphere samples were taken from asymptomatic and symptomatic plants  caused by Fusarium wilt disease. Isolation of fungi was done through the serial  dilution method. Isolates were identified from their macroscopic and microscopic  characters. In total, 63 fungal isolates were successfully isolated, with seven fungal  genera identified, i.e., Aspergillus, Curvularia, Fusarium, Gongronella, Mucor,  Penicillium, and Purpureocillium. The fungal rhizosphere from the asymptomatic  banana plant is more diverse than from symptomatic plants. Aspergillus and  Fusarium are the most dominant fungal genera found in this study. The result of  this study was also written as an encyclopedia book. The book can be used as an  alternative learning source for biology high school students on the concept of  fungi.
