Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu menggunakan metode historis/sejarah, yang meliputi heuristik, kritik, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Analisis dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teori pemberian oleh Marcell Mauss dan teori orientasi nilai budaya oleh Kluckhohn. Teori ini digunakan untuk menjadi metode analisa pemberian dalam upacara seren taun serta nilai yang terkandung di dalamnya. Hasil penelitian kondisi sosial dan budaya Kasepuhan Karang pada awal Tahun 2003 ketika tanah mereka dibawah pengawasan Taman Nasional Gunung Halimun Salak (TNGHS) terjadi konflik antara pihak TNGHS juga dengan salah satu organisasi masa Islam pada tahun 2009 dan 2012 pada acara seren taun, otomatis seren taun, festival pare gede dan juga ziarah ke Situs Lebak Kosala terhenti. Perkembangan upacara adat seren taun Kasepuhan Karang pada awal 2000 masih sangat kental dengan budaya, tetapi pada tahun 2009 dan 2012 akibat serangan dari organisasi massa Islam seren taun hanya sebatas dengan doa saja. Ketika telah mendapat Peraturan daerah di tahun 2012 seren taun Kasepuhan Karang kembali meriah. Nilai-nilai yang terkandung dalam Upacara Adat Seren Taun Wewengkon Adat Kasepuhan Karang memiliki nilai budaya (religius, musyawarah, solidaritas, kepatuhan dan kebersamaan). Serta memiliki makna antara lain: makna hidup manusia (tanggung jawab, tidak serakah, dan kerja keras), makna hubungan manusia dengan makhluk sekitarnya (percaya makhluk ghaib dan tidak menyakiti makhluk hidup di alam sekitar), persepsi dengan waktu (perhitugan waktu bertani), makna dari pekerjaan, karya atau amal dari perbuatan manusia (bertani menjadi pekerjaan utama warga kasepuhan, kebudayaan sebagai karya, dan amal perbuatan manusia), dan hubungan manusia dengan sesama manusia (tidak mengambil hak milik orang lain dan membantu sesama lain). abstract: The development of Seren Taun Wewengkon Adat Kasepuhan Karang Ceremony is the main focus of this research. The method used in this research is the historical method, which includes heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography.
