description: The purpose of this study is to describe the history of the Cioko Worship Ceremony Tradition and to analyze the dynamics of the Cioko Worship Ceremony Tradition at Vihara Nimmala Klenteng Boen San Bio Tangerang in 2000–2009. The method used in this research is the historical method which is divided into four stages, such as heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The theoretical basis used is the concept of tradition, the theory of cultural dynamics and the theory of symbolic interaction. The results of the study explain that this tradition did not just appear, but was influenced by Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism and other traditions in China that helped shape this ceremony. The Cioko Praying Ceremony at Boen San Bio Temple has also undergone changes in the procession of its implementation. Since 2000, there has been a tradition of fighting over offerings at the end of the prayer. However, in 2006 there was a chaos in the rebutebutan process so that in 2009 this rebutan tradition was removed because there had been chaos in the process. Currently, the Cioko Prayer Ceremony at Boen San Bio Temple no longer involves rebutan. The Sembahyang Cioko ceremony can be seen as a religious symbol that has significant meaning for the local community. Involvement in these ceremonies is not just a religious practice, but also a means for individuals and communities to express their values, beliefs and identity to the wider society.
