description: Truancy behavior is one of the problems that can interfere with students' learning process and requires proper handling. This study aims to determine the effect of group counseling with self-management techniques to reduce truancy behavior of class VIII students at SMPN 2 Petir. The research method used is quantitative, pre-experimental method with one group pretest-posttest design. The research sample was taken using the Purposive Sampling Technique which obtained 10 samples with the highest truancy category and then given treatment. The analysis technique used in hypothesis testing is the Wilcoxon signed ranks test. This is evidenced by a significant decrease from the average value of 81.1 to 47.3. Analysis of the Wilcoxon signed ranks test on the hypothesis decision-making process, the value of 0.005 <0.05, So it can be concluded that the hypothesis is accepted. Thus Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. This study concludes that group counseling with self-management techniques has an effect on reducing students' truancy behavior.
