This study aims to design, manufacture, and evaluate a motor vehicle pollutant filtering device using a combination of glasswool and air filter materials. Testing was carried out on a 2009 Vega R motorcycle engine fueled by Pertalite, with emission analysis using a gas analyzer. The filter was tested in various configurations (glasswool 10 g, 20 g, 30 g; air filter 1, 2, 3 layers; and a combination of both) for 5 minutes each experiment. The test results showed that this device is effective in reducing pollutant emissions. The combination of 10 grams of glasswool and one layer of air filter gave the best performance, with a reduction of carbon monoxide (CO) up to 88.5%, hydrocarbons (HC) up to 87.8%, and carbon dioxide (CO2) up to 86.3% compared to conditions without a filter. This device is also able to maintain the air flow rate at a level that supports combustion efficiency. Factors such as glasswool weight, number of air filter layers, and material combination have a significant effect on the performance of the device. The lightweight configuration provides an optimal balance between emission reduction and smooth air flow rate. This study confirms the importance of proper filter configuration to improve combustion efficiency and reduce pollutant emissions.
