%T DEVELOPING INFOGRAPHICS AS A LEARNING MEDIA IN TEACHING READING AT SMPN 21 KOTA SERANG

%X This research aims to present the process and results of developing infographic media for teaching reading skills on descriptive text material. The research subjects were students of the seventh F of SMP Negeri 21 Kota Serang. The researcher employed the research and development (R&D) method, which refers to the Borg & Gall, there are seven stages: research and information collecting, planning, developing a preliminary form of the product, preliminary field testing, main product revision, main field testing, and operational product revision. The instruments used in this research are interviews and questionnaires. Close-ended questionnaires and interviews were used to gather information for the preliminary study. Meanwhile, to determine the feasibility of infographic products, researchers used a questionnaire given to material and media experts. Then the student response questionnaire was conducted to assess student satisfaction with the media. The result of the data after conducting preliminary and main field testing showed that the assessment of material experts obtained a score of 98% with an excellent category and the media expert obtained a score of 97% which is classified in the excellent category. In addition, the results of the student response questionnaire also obtained a score of 96% in the excellent category. Based on the overall assessment, it can be stated that the infographic media was feasible and suitable for use in teaching and learning reading activities in descriptive text material at seventh grade of SMP Negeri 21 Kota Serang.
%Z Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyajikan proses dan hasil pengembangan media infografis untuk mengajarkan keterampilan membaca pada materi teks deskriptif. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VII-F SMP Negeri 21 Kota Serang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian dan pengembangan (R&D), yang mengacu pada Borg & Gall, terdapat tujuh tahap yaitu penelitian dan pengumpulan informasi, perencanaan, pengembangan bentuk awal produk, uji coba lapangan awal, revisi produk utama, uji coba lapangan utama, revisi produk operasional. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah wawancara dan kuesioner. Kuesioner tertutup dan wawancara digunakan untuk mengumpulkan informasi untuk studi pendahuluan. Sedangkan untuk mengetahui kelayakan produk infografis, peneliti menggunakan angket yang diberikan kepada ahli materi dan ahli media. Kemudian angket respon siswa dilakukan untuk menilai kepuasan siswa terhadap media. Hasil data setelah melakukan uji coba lapangan awal dan utama menunjukkan bahwa penilaian ahli materi memperoleh skor 98% dengan kategori sangat baik dan ahli media memperoleh skor 97% yang tergolong dalam kategori sangat baik. Selain itu, hasil angket respon siswa juga memperoleh skor 96% dengan kategori sangat baik. Berdasarkan penilaian secara keseluruhan, dapat dinyatakan bahwa media infografis layak dan sesuai untuk digunakan dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar membaca pada materi descriptive text di kelas VII SMP Negeri 21 Kota Serang.
