"Utilization and processing of shellfish resources must be carried out to balance the \r\nhigh production of shellfish in Indonesia. Shellfish contain meat that can be \r\nprocessed into food and there are also by products in the form of shells which are \r\nconsidered waste so they are wasted and rarely used. Shell waste is a natural \r\ningredient which aims to reduce the negative impact of chemicals found in \r\ntoothpaste, while the main content of the essential oil in betel leaves is phenol and \r\nits derivatives such as kavikol which has a bactericidal effect 5 times greater than \r\nphenol. Therefore, this study aims to determine the effectiveness and find out the \r\nbest treatment of toothpaste with the addition of green shell shells and betel leaf \r\nextract. The research stages include making green mussel shell flour, making betel \r\nleaf extract, making toothpaste formulations with differences in shell flour F1 (0%), \r\nF2 (16.5%), F3 (25%), F4 (33.5%), F5(50%). Physical test parameters include \r\norganoleptic, centrifugal test, viscosity, physical stability test, and antibacterial. \r\nThe organoleptic test results based on the color, aroma and texture parameters of \r\nthe panel preferred F1. In the viscosity test, all formulations were in accordance \r\nwith the standards, then for the calcium test, treatment F5 contained the highest \r\ncalcium carbonate. In the formalin test, all formulations were negative or did not \r\ncontain formalin. Based on the centrifugal test results, all formulations have no \r\nphase differences, and for physical stability and pH, all are stable and still within \r\nthe normal limits of SNI 8861-2020. For the antibacterial test, the best treatment is \r\nF5 with an inhibition zone of 5.00mm.
