One of the factors that causes low mathematical problem solving ability of students is the use inappropriate learning models and lack of confidence in students. One learning model that can help is the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) cooperative learning model. By implementing this learning model, students will be trained in open discussions that create interactions so that students are better able to think critically to solve existing problems. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the STAD type cooperative learning model and Self-efficacy on students’ mathematical problem solving ability. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Rangkasbitung. The method used is a experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample in this study amounted to 50 students from eight grade students selected through cluster random sampling. The data for this study were obtained through a mathematical problem-solving ability test and student self-efficacy questionnaire data. The results of this study reveal that the STAD type cooperative learning model has a positive effect on problem-solving ability.
