description: Inter-island migrant students are faced with various differences in the new environment. So they should be able to adapt. The purpose of the research is to find out the culture shock experienced and the ways of adaptation carried out by inter-island migrant students. Method research used by researchers is qualitative, with data collection techniques carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation and analyzed by using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The theory in this study uses James Milton Benneth’s adaptation theory, namely the developmental model of intercultural sensitivity and Pierre Bourdieu’s habitus and capital. The Result of this showed that the inter-island migrant students of FKIP Untirta carried out the adaptation process based on six stages, which are denial, defense, minimization, acceptance, adaptation, dan integration. Culture shock experienced by Inter-island migrant students of FKIP Untirta are language differences, weather differences, food, and environmental conditions in the form of ease in finding public services and community characteristics. Adaptation is carried out depending on the position of the place you live in by first finding a new friend, then learning the culture, and interacting socially. A new habitus has been formed in FKIP Untirta’s inter-island migrant students in the new environment.
