This research employs a mixed-methods approach with an exploratory sequential design. Qualitative data were collected through interviews and observations, while quantitative data were obtained through tensile and stiffness tests conducted in a laboratory. The results reveal that indigenous knowledge in the Baduy weaving process involves physics principles tensile stress, strain, Young’s modulus, and friction force which are intuitively applied by the artisans. Laboratory analysis indicates that the woven fabric has a tensile strength and a bending modulus reflecting good fabric elasticity. This study highlights the relevance of local culture to physics concepts and the importance of integrating indigenous knowledge into physics curricula to enhance contextual and relevant learning. The final outcome of the study, a documentary film, is expected to serve as an educational reference and an effort to preserve the culture of the Baduy Tribe.
