The wound is particularly susceptible to infection by bacteria, especially by bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus. The ineffectiveness of antibiotics in treating wound infections has encouraged scientists to develop other alternative treatments, such as nanotechnology-based drug preparations in the form of ointments and gels. Gold nanoparticles have the advantage of being able to inhibit antibacterial activity because they can penetrate the microbial cell membrane easily, causing leakage of cell contents and microbial death. The purpose of this study is to obtain the best chitosan bioreducer volume, optimal synthesis time, HAuCl4 concentration and the best chitosan bioreducer concentration in synthesizing gold nanoparticles that are able to inhibit bacterial growth and characterize chitosan encapsulated gold nanoparticles. The gold nanoparticle synthesis in this study uses the sonication method with chitosan as a bioreductor. The results obtained showed that the smallest nanoparticle gold size was 180.1 nm and the PDI value was 0,433. The optimum conditions for the synthesis of gold nanoparticles by sonication method are at 60oC, volume of 5 ml of 2\% chitosan bioreductor, concentration of HAuCl4 10 mM and synthesis time of 45 minutes. The average inhibition of gold nanoparticles against S. aureus bacteria was 7,99 mm, while against P. aeruginosa bacteria was 7,03 mm.} }
