description: The role of counselors in communicating with patients has a significant  impact on the counseling process for drug addiction patients. Patients and  counselors will interact both verbally and non-verbally, allowing counselors to  understand patients more personally, ultimately resulting in a psychological bond  that enables a deeper understanding of the patients' personalities undergoing  rehabilitation.  However, often in the rehabilit’====ation process, drug abuse patients  have difficulty understanding the messages conveyed by counselors, causing  communication to be ineffective and less effective. To enhance interpersonal  communication that leads to effective relationships and cooperation, an open  attitude, mutual trust, and support for each other are needed, which can  encourage mutual respect and self-development.  The aim of this research is to understand how the communication process  between counselors and drug addiction patients takes place, its effectiveness, and  what obstacles exist. This research uses self-disclosure theory, which refers to a  concept in psychology and communication explaining why and how people share  personal information about themselves with others. The method used in this  research is descriptive qualitative with in-depth interview techniques with  counselors and patients to gather as much information as possible about the  health communication process at the Pratama Clinic of BNN Banten Province.  The results of this study indicate that the communication process between  counselors and patients starts from the orientation stage by filling out the selfassist from BNN. Then, communication continues with various methods such as  motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and building trust.  Obstacles in the health communication process between counselors and drug  addiction patients include the patient's psychological condition, patients being  under the influence of substances, and differing family views. The effectiveness of  the rehabilitation process at BNN is quite good because, according to the data, all  rehabilitation patients can complete the outpatient rehabilitation process  successfully.
