Based on Pierre Bourdieu’s theory, catcalling is seen as an act that degrades women and reinforces power imbalances in society. The research also explores the social background and experiences of students that influence their interpretations of this phenomenon.  The research employed a qualitative approach with descriptive techniques. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Respondents were students of the Sociology Education Program at Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. Source and technique triangulation were applied to ensure data validity.  The findings reveal two main perspectives: some students view catcalling as a form of symbolic violence causing fear and discomfort, while others perceive it as mere social interaction. Factors such as education, cultural background, and social environment significantly influence these interpretations.
