Fusarium wilt is a major banana disease that can only be effectively managed by planting disease-resistant varieties. This study aimed to identify wild populations of Musa acuminata with resistance to fusarium wilt, which could be valuable for breeding bananas resistant to fusarium wilt race 1 (R1) and tropical race 4 (TR4). The screening was conducted on M. acuminata populations derived from selfing three populations, a cross of one population, and open pollination of three populations in a greenhouse setting. Additionally, the results of this study are expected to contribute as material for a virtual exhibition and serve as a learning resource for high school students (Grade 10). Greenhouse testing identified resistant and non-resistant accessions, indicating the segregation of resistance traits within the tested populations. The frequency of resistant and non-resistant accessions exhibited segregation patterns in normal, bimodal, and skewed curves. The bimodal curve suggests that resistance to fusarium wilt (R1 and TR4) is controlled by a single dominant gene, while the normal and skewed curve patterns suggest gene interactions influencing resistance traits. Understanding the genetic diversity of wild M. acuminata and its relationship to fusarium wilt resistance is crucial.
