description: As is known, humans can produce waste every day in various forms, namely commercial waste, household waste and industrial waste. The way waste is disposed of can also have an impact on the surrounding environment, if the waste is disposed of carelessly it can pollute the environment, including land and water, which can then threaten the sustainability of the ecosystem and human health conditions. The aim of this research is to design a waste sorting bin that is more hygienic in the process of disposing of metal and non-metal waste and can determine the height level of the waste using the HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor, buzzer and LED so that it can make it easier for users to know when it is time to empty the bin. . The implementation of this waste sorting system uses one source of electricity in the form of a power supply. This research has resulted in (1) A system that can sort metal and non-metal waste using three detection sensors, namely inductive proximity sensors, capacitive proximity sensors and infrared sensors. (2) The waste sorting system is able to detect the height level of the waste using the HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor and buzzer as a sound indicator. (3) When implementing the waste sorting system as a whole, the success rate of the system is 100% for metal waste sorting and 70% for non-metal waste.
