This behavior is attributed to the limited methods employed to address the child's aggression, such as verbal reprimands, which have not been effective in mitigating the aggressive behavior. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of using the differential reinforcement of alternative behavior method in reducing aggressive behavior in first-grade students with intellectual disabilities at SLB Bina Insani Purwakarta. This study employs a quantitative approach with a Single Subject Research (SSR) experimental method, utilizing an A-B-A design. The session range includes a baseline phase – 1 (A1) consisting of 8 sessions, an intervention phase (B) of 16 sessions, and a baseline – 2 (A2) of 8 sessions, each lasting 30 minutes. The subject of this research is one first-grade student with intellectual disabilities at SLB Bina Insani Purwakarta. Data collection was conducted through observation and documentation methods. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistics and presented in tables and graphs. Based on the results of the study, the use of the differential reinforcement of alternative behavior method can effectively reduce aggressive hitting behavior in children with intellectual disabilities. This is evidenced by the observed decrease in scores during each phase and session. Therefore, the differential reinforcement of alternative behavior method may serve as an alternative approach to reduce aggressive behavior in children with intellectual disabilities.
