Therefore, POME can be utilized in biogas production, which helps minimize the accumulation of palm oil wastewater. The objectives of the research include studying the effect of feed pH (3.9), 6, and 7 on biohydrogen production from POME, studying the effect of Microbial Electrolysis Cell Anaerobic Digestion (MEC AD) and Anaerobic Digestion (AD) on hydrogen production from POME, and performing kinetic analysis to predict hydrogen production with the influence of feed pH and MEC on biohydrogen production from POME. In this study, Anaerobic Digestion was chosen due to its low energy requirement, minimal by-product production, no need for large reactors, simple equipment, cost-effectiveness, and high biohydrogen conversion. The process was conducted at a laboratory scale in a modified 500 mL digester with pre-treated inoculum, under room temperature conditions. The results showed that the digester with pH 6, equipped with MEC, had the highest hydrogen production of 1589.99 ml/g COD, with a predicted maximum hydrogen yield of 1545.09 ml/g COD and a minimum hydrogen production time of 1.06 days, with a hydrogen formation rate of 506.70 ml/g COD.
