description: This study aims to be able to describe the role of Reading Community activities on   the initial reading ability in SD Negeri Singapadu. The focus of this research starts   from the implementation, role, to the results of the role of Reading Community   activities on initial reading. This research was carried out with a descriptive   qualitative approach involving 23 students who were members of the Reading   Community activities. The results of the study show that in the implementation of   Reading Community activities, students will be taught through 3 stages, namely the   habituation stage, the core activity stage and the evaluation stage. This Reading   Community carries out its role as a community by becoming a driver of self-  development for students, an institution that builds reading interest, as a facilitator   and motivator and acts as an agent of change. The results of the study also show   that this reading community plays a role in improving the initial reading ability for   students. This can be seen from the various improvements shown by students in   recognizing letters, syllables, words and sentences.
