description: There are obligations that arise due to law and exist because of agreements.  Agreements that are not implemented are called defaults. An example of a default  case is a default in the cooking oil purchase agreement between Ririn Lisnawati  and Sumardi. The identification of the problem in this study is how the default  committed by Ririn in the cooking oil sale and purchase agreement between Ririn  Lisnawati and Sumardi according to the Civil Code and how the compensation for  default made by Ririn in decision No. 83 / Pdt.G / 2021 / PN.Srg is related to the  Civil Code. The theories used in this study are the theory of contract law and the  theory of legal responsibility. Normative research is the method used in this study.  The results of this study are Ririn's breach of contract clearly based on Article  1238 of the Civil Code. Because Ririn has not fulfilled her agreement to Sumardi  in full several times. So each party between Ririn and Sumardi must equally carry  out their obligations and obtain their rights. Ririn's breach of contract  compensation is not in accordance with Article 1243 of the Civil Code. Because  this compensation only includes costs and losses, and no fines. So this decision  should include costs, losses and interest (this is also an order from Article 1243 of  the Civil Code) so that Sumardi gets his rights according to Article 1243 of the  Civil Code.
