description: This research was aimed to determine the morphological characterization of fruits   and seeds, as well as the results of tetrazolium viability testing on wild banana   plants Musa acuminata Colla ssp. rutilifes. This research was conduct from April   to July 2024 at the greenhouse in Cibinong and general botany laboratory Bogor   Botanical Gardens of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). The   design used in the viability testing is a combination of KNO3 concentration and   soaking duration treatments. The concentration factor consists of control (A0), 0.5%   KNO3, and 1% KNO3, while the soaking duration factor consists of 1 hour, 12   hours, and 24 hours. There were 9 treatment combinations with 4 replications. The   result showed that the fruit morphology has length average range between 6-9 cm   and the diameter average of 17-20 mm. The seed morphology had the length   average ranged from 3-3,5 mm, the diameter average range of 4-5,5 mm, an average   seed moisture content of 18,79%, and an average leachate conductivity of 654,90   µS cm-1   g  -1  . In the treatment combinations of concentration and soaking durations,   the seeds tested with tetrazolium showed a high level of non viability. Seed viability   in all treatment combinations was below 30%, while seed non-viability reached   80%. This was due to the presence of many defective seeds, such as those lacking   endosperm and embryo.
