description: This research is motivated by the absence of the use of video-based learning media in schools, where the learning media used are still conventional. Students are more interested in using gadgets for non-learning activities than using them for learning. This study aims to determine the effect of video-based learning media on the understanding of basic electronic concepts of class X Telin students (Industrial Electronics Engineering), and to compare the effectiveness between video media and conventional learning media. The research method used is a quantitative method with a "quasi-experimental" design.  The results of the study showed that there was a positive influence of the use of video-based learning media on student understanding. However, the results of further analysis showed that the difference between video media and conventional media was not significant. Thus, although video media has a positive impact, its effectiveness is not much different compared to conventional media in improving understanding of basic electronic concerts
