High schools description: The purpose of this research is to investigate the problems students face in speaking English and explore some opinions points for improving the teaching-learning process. The research was conducted at junior high school in Purwakarta, West Java, using a qualitative design. Class observations, and interviews with English teachers and students who have difficulties with speaking English. Several responses were given by the students and English teachers at the school. The study revealed that the eighth-grade students at SMPN 2 Purwakarta are facing difficulties speaking English such as lack of vocabulary memorization, not comprehending grammar, not knowing the correct pronunciation, having no interlocutors outside of school to improve speaking skills, and having low self-confidence. Furthermore, the research's findings present a variety of perspectives from teachers regarding the best way to help students improve their ability to communicate in English, a teacher's perspective on the reasons why students struggle with speaking, the value of creating an English-speaking community to give them additional chances to talk about the language, the importance of building stronger connections outside of school, and many benefits of using modern technology to learn English languages, such as YouTube, Google, and the Cake application. It is expected to benefit students and language teachers, raising awareness of speaking anxiety among EFL students and prompting the development of teaching methods to minimize student anxiety and increase English exposure. date: 2024 type: Thesis type: NonPeerReviewed format: text language: id identifier: https://eprints.untirta.ac.id/44719/11/Yusriya%20Mellenia%20Kasum_2223180037_Fulltext...pdf format: text language: id identifier: https://eprints.untirta.ac.id/44719/12/Yusriya%20Mellenia%20Kasum_2223180037_01..pdf format: text language: id identifier: https://eprints.untirta.ac.id/44719/3/Yusriya%20Mellenia%20Kasum_2223180037_02.pdf format: text language: id identifier: https://eprints.untirta.ac.id/44719/4/Yusriya%20Mellenia%20Kasum_2223180037_03.pdf format: text language: id identifier: https://eprints.untirta.ac.id/44719/5/Yusriya%20Mellenia%20Kasum_2223180037_04.pdf format: text language: id identifier: https://eprints.untirta.ac.id/44719/6/Yusriya%20Mellenia%20Kasum_2223180037_05.pdf format: text language: id identifier: https://eprints.untirta.ac.id/44719/7/Yusriya%20Mellenia%20Kasum_2223180037_Reff.pdf format: text language: id identifier: https://eprints.untirta.ac.id/44719/8/Yusriya%20Mellenia%20Kasum_2223180037_Lamp.pdf format: text language: id identifier: https://eprints.untirta.ac.id/44719/13/Yusriya%20Mellenia%20Kasum_2223180037_CP-113-119.pdf identifier: Mellenia Kasum, Yusriya (2024) JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL PROBLEMS IN PERFORMING SPEAKING ENGLISH: SOME POINTS FOR IMPROVING TEACHING-LEARNING PROCESS.
