%X This study aims to determine (1) the interpersonal communication process of parents in dealing with children who drop out of school to take part in the equivalency program at PKBM Nurul Ilman, (2) the factors that cause  children to drop out of school to take part in the equivalency program at PKBM Nurul Ilman, and (3) the characteristics of parenting patterns of parents on children who drop out of school to take part in the equivalency program at PKBM Nurul Ilman. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, and documentation. Data sources in this study  amounted to 9 respondents consisting of the person in charge of the institution, chairman, parents, and learning citizens at PKBM Nurul Ilman. The results showed that the results showed that there were still many parents who had difficulty in communicating to their children due to their busyness,  besides that there were many factors that caused children to drop out of school, such as parental divorce factors, economic factors, environmental factors and others, the lack of assertiveness of parents in educating children made children more likely to relax.
%Z Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui (1) proses komunikasi  interpersonal orang tua dalam menghadapi anak yang putus sekolah untuk  mengikuti program kesetaraan di PKBM Nurul Ilman, (2) faktor penyebab  anak putus sekolah untuk mengikuti program kesetaraan di PKBM Nurul  Ilman, serta (3) karakteristik pola asuh orang tua pada anak putus sekolah  untuk mengikuti program kesetaraan di PKBM Nurul Ilman. Teknik  pengumpulan data yang digunakan ialah observasi, wawancara, dan  dokumentasi. Sumbr data dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 9 orang responden  yang terdiri dari penanggung jawab lembaga, ketua, orang tua, dan warga  belajar di PKBM Nurul Ilman. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa hasil  penelitian menunjukan masih banyaknya orang tua yang memiliki kesulitan  dalam berkomunikasi kepada anaknya yang diakibatkan karena kesibukan mereka, selain itu terdapat banyak faktor yang menyebabkan anak putus sekolah, seperti faktor perceraian orang tua, faktor ekonomi, faktor lingkungan dan lain-lain, kurang tegasnya orang tua dalam mendidik anak membuat anak lebih cenderung santai.
