description: This study aims to explore the representation of masculinity in the novel Hujan by Tere Liye, focusing on the characters Lail and Esok. Using a descriptive qualitative method, the research collects data through close reading, noting relevant sections,   and identifying themes related to masculinity. The data analysis technique employed is content analysis, utilizing coding to mark and categorize elements within the text. The findings indicate that masculine aspects, such as independence, courage, and decision-making ability, are represented in both maincharacters.   Although Lail is a female character, she exhibits strong masculine traits, while Esok displays emotional sensitivity. This study contributes to the understanding of the social construction of masculinity in literature, highlighting that masculine traits can be possessed by individuals of both genders.
