description: This study aims to describe the effect of the application of the reading aloud method on reading interest and reading skills in grade VII students of SMPN 1 Kramatwatu. This study used pre-experimental method, quantitative approach with preangket-postangket design and pretest-posttest one group design. Data collection techniques use reading interest questionnaires in the form of prequestionnaires and postquestionnaires and reading skills tests in the form of pretests and posttests. The results showed an increase in reading interest from preangket 80,323 to postangket 81,548. Then, an increase in reading skill scores from pretest 56 to posttest 85 activities. There was a significant effect of the reading aloud method on reading interest after treatment with a result of 0.707. Then, there was a significant effect of the reading aloud method on students' reading skills after treatment with a result of 0.622.  Thus it can be concluded that the reading aloud method affects the reading interest and reading skills of grade VII students of SMPN 1 Kramatwatu.
