The Thixoforming process is a manufacturing technique that involves using the material in a semi-solid state, where it has the right viscosity for forming, which is between a solid and liquid state. In this study, the author conducts an experimental study on the fabrication of Al 6061 composite reinforced with Silicon Carbide (SiC) using the Thixoforming method. The objective is to understand the fabrication process of composite materials, with the main focus being the Thixoforming method, and to analyze the results of microstructure tests, hardness, and impact properties to observe the effect of SiC reinforcement on the mechanical properties of Al-SiC composites. In the final stage of testing the Al-SiC composite, the results showed that the mechanical properties improved, with hardness increasing as the SiC content increased. First, the impact test results showed an increase in value with each specimen variation: 0.0226 J/mm² for the first variation, 0.0230 J/mm² for the second variation, and 0.0453 J/mm² for the third variation. The hardness test results also increased: 11.9 for the first variation, 25.5 for the second variation, and 33.1 for the third variation. The SEM analysis results were consistent with the author’s hypothesis, where the first variation showed the least amount of SiC particles, corresponding to its lowest SiC content of 5%.
