This study aims to analyze aquaculture activities and recommends alternative strategies to increase the productivity of freshwater aquaculture for consumption in Baros District. This study is a descriptive exploratory research type, held in February – December 2022, located in villages in Baros District, Serang Regency, Banten Province. Based on the results of this study, aquaculture farmers consisted of 20 breeding and nursery farmers of 2 groups of active farmers. This research showed that cultivators have an average age of 30-39 years with education at the high school level (60%) and a bachelor's degree (20%) and have been involved in freshwater fish farming activities for 0-20 years. Based on the data, the capital owned is only sufficient to meet daily needs and no capital is available for cultivation development. Cultivators in Baros use natural food in the form of Tubifex sp. and artificial feed in cultivation activities. Water quality with a pH of 6.5 – 8, ammonia 0.25 – 1.25mg/L and temperature 25.5 – 29.67℃. Based on the matrix SWOT analysis showed about (0,7; 0,3) and located at first quadran. Strategies recommendations based on SWOT analysis are enhancing human resources by workshop and certification from Serang Regency Government Services of Food Security and Fisheries, developing aquaculture techniques and technologies, and diversifying aquaculture products.
