A metaphor is a figure of speech used to compare one thing to another, often known as a figurative expression. The objectives of this research are (1) to describe the metaphors in the poetry collection Baju Bulan by Joko Pinurbo based on Ullmann's classification, and (2) to describe the implications of the research findings for literature teaching in high school. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with literature review techniques for data collection. The results of this study show that the poetry collection Baju Bulan contains metaphors in the form of anthropomorphic metaphors, animal metaphors, metaphors from concrete to abstract, and synesthetic metaphors. A total of 44 metaphorical instances were found, including 22 instances of anthropomorphic metaphors, 3 instances of animal metaphors, 19 instances of metaphors from concrete to abstract, and no instances of synesthetic metaphors. The analysis results indicate that the use of metaphors helps the poet convey deeper emotions and meanings to the reader. Metaphor analysis allows readers to better understand the messages and themes of the poems, as well as appreciate the beauty of the language used. The form of metaphor frequently found in the poetry collection Baju Bulan by Joko Pinurbo is anthropomorphic metaphor. The form of metaphor that is not used is synesthetic metaphor. The implications of this can be linked to relevant learning objectives, such as metaphors being applied in literature writing lessons, both in the form of poetry and prose, or in writing a diary. Another implication is that students can analyze and write poems from the tenth-grade textbook of the Merdeka Curriculum.
