Industrial growth in Cilegon has led to increased distribution and many overloaded vehicles. This has caused pavement damage before the road's intended lifespan is reached. Therefore, it is necessary to review the extent and causes of road damage in this section. The purpose of this study is to determine the volume of traffic on the Tangerang Merak toll road section in the direction of Jakarta KM 87 - KM 94 and its effect on road damage that occurs. This research method uses the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) to determine the level of road damage and Bina Marga's method for calculating the equivalent number of vehicle axle loads to obtain the truck factor value. The results of the daily traffic analysis with the number of vehicles passing through during the two most populous months amounted to 137,169 vehicles. With a percentage of normally loaded vehicles of 53% and a percentage of overloaded vehicles of 47%. The results of the ESAL analysis of vehicles on the road section within the two most populous months (61 days) obtained a number of 879796.2186, resulting in a truck factor value of 6.41> 1 (overload). The results of the damage analysis on this road section obtained two types of damage, namely damage in the form of grooves (Rutting) which has a percentage of 96.11% with a total damage area of 3762.36 m2 and the type of fatness damage (bleeding) which has a percentage of 3.89% with a damage area of 152.1 m2. The highest level of damage obtained a PCI value of 17 with the category Very Poor. While the lowest level of damage obtained a PCI value of 100 with a perfect category (Excellent). The average PCI value on the entire road section obtained a value of 73,91 in the Very Good category. The damage that occurs is rutting caused by traffic repetition and the high number of overloaded vehicles, which increases the road's destructiveness (VDF).
