Furthermore, increasing needs of human life are closely related to increasing use of plastic material consumption. Based on data from Ministry of Environment and Forestry in 2023, amount of waste in Indonesia will reach around 68,5 million tons with 18,9% of it being plastic. Therefore, there needs to be a good management of plastic waste. This research aims to prove that use polymer in form High Density Polyethylene plastic waste can improve quality of asphalt. Polymer modified asphalt is expected to have resistance to temperature changes, so that the asphalt is more resistant to deformation when compared to pen 60/70 asphalt. The results showed that use of HDPE plastic waste at 2%, 4%, 6%, and 8% levels can increase softening point and viscosity values, but decrease penetration value, resulting in a decrease in sensitivity and an increase in penetration index, which means that asphalt becomes more resistant to temperature changes. Furthermore, Raman Spectroscopy test results showed an increase in aliphatic structures (C–H) and changes in amount or environment of aromatic structures (C=C) in HDPE plastic asphalt at 4% and 8% concentrations.
