Civil engineering (General) description: Liquefaction is a phenomenon of decreasing soil strength and stiffness due to earthquakes or other ground movements that can cause serious damage to infrastructure during earthquakes. This study aims to analyze the liquefaction potential in an area using Standard Penetration Test (SPT) data and evaluate the effectiveness of the stone column method as a mitigation alternative. The SPT data obtained from the research site was analyzed to determine the value of the safety factor against liquefaction using the Seed and Idriss method. The results of the analysis show that some soil layers at the study site have liquefaction potential due to the presence of water-saturated sand at a depth of 7.5 - 40 m. As a remedial measure, the stone column method is proposed. As a remedial measure, the stone column method was proposed and evaluated based on its ability to increase the soil bearing capacity and reduce liquefaction potential by installing an equilateral triangle stone column configuration with a diameter of 1 m and a spacing of 1.6 m between columns. The calculation results show a significant increase in the bearing capacity of the soil after the installation of stone columns with the original factor of safety values of 0.549 - 0.897 to 1.703 - 3.057 this allows the building structure on the improved soil to have a stronger and more stable foundation. This study concludes that the stone column method is one of the best soil improvement methods for liquefaction potential soils, especially in loose sand soils.
